2. Fiat 500e — $32,995
Criticized as a “compliance car” (built specially to meet California and national CAFE regulations), the Fiat 500e loses the company money with every sale — if the CEO is to be believed. Furthermore, the all-electric compact has a range of only 84 miles and costs roughly twice as much as its gas-powered sibling. But, damn, it is so much fun to drive. It even feels sportier than the gas original, thanks to all that electric torque, reminding us that being environmentally friendly can also be a blast. Plus, this car includes the excellent and easy-to-use Uconnect in-dash system carried over from Chrysler and Dodge vehicles.
